The New African is a monthly, English-language magazine based in London and Accra . It is aimed at an international audience and has been published since 1966. The New African focuses on topics from the areas of politics, culture and economy on the African continent. According to the magazine, 250,000 readers with a circulation of 45,530 were reached in 2005. 82% of the print run was sold in Africa.

The current editor is Baffour Ankomah .

The New African has a reputation for  downplaying or defending criticism of controversial African leaders such as Zimbabwe's former president, Robert Mugabe or the former president of Liberia -  Charles Taylor . Examples of this can be found in the August / September 2008 issue.
