The New Brunswick Southern Railway from 1901 was a railroad company in the Canadian province of New Brunswick . It was founded on April 3, 1901, but went back to an existing railway company. This was initially founded in 1872 as the Grand Southern Railway and built a 83.9 kilometer long standard gauge railway from Saint John to Bonny River , which was opened on December 30, 1880. It was later extended by another 48.9 kilometers to Saint Stephen , where there was a connection to the New Brunswick Railway .

In 1889 the company was renamed Shore Line Railway of New Brunswick and in 1901 it was finally taken over by the New Brunswick Southern Railway. From January 1, 1911, the Canadian Pacific Railway leased the railway company for 999 years. The line is no longer in operation.
