New York City was an American R&B and soul band from the early 1970s. The members Claude Johnson, Edward Schell, John Brown and Tim McQueen played in 1950s doowop style.

In 1972 the first recordings were made under the band name "Triboro Exchange". After the name was changed to "New York City", the single I'm Doin 'Fine Now was released , which reached top 20 positions in the UK and US charts and became the group's biggest hit. Two other New York City singles, Make Me Twice the Man (1973) and Quick, Fast, in a Hurry (1974), hit the bottom of the charts in the United States. Later chart placements failed to materialize despite various publications.
