The action takes place during the New York City Marathon , in which more than 40,000 runners start each year. Brian Harding and his ingenious buddy Christopher Johnson are running again with the undetectable doping substance, but this time they are forced to do so by the unscrupulous Russian oligarch Stalin. Stalin's rules are simple: one of them has to win. None of them are allowed to stop. Otherwise, the charges will explode in your shoes. At the same time, the storyline begins around the CIA task force under the direction of Elisabeth Bancroft. The agents try to save the lives of the two runners and thereby get behind Stalin's true plan.
