Newe Dekalim ( Hebrew נוה דקלים dt .: palm oasis) was an Israeli settlement in the Gush Katif settlement block in the southern Gaza Strip .

It was founded in 1983 after Israel withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula . Newe Dekalim borders the Palestinian city of Chan Yunis . The population of the settlement consisted of about 500 families of Orthodox Jews until August 2005 ; the population was last at almost 2,700. Newe Dekalim was the largest Jewish settlement in Gaza. It served as the seat of the settlement administration and as a regional center for the predominantly agricultural neighboring settlements in the Gush-Katif block.

Six children were injured in a grenade attack on July 25, 2004.

As part of Israel's withdrawal from Gaza , the settlement was evacuated; the last family left Newe Dekalim on August 17, 2005. The houses of Newe Dekalim were destroyed, but the infrastructure should be preserved for the Palestinians.
