News (spelled NEWS ) was a daily Swiss newspaper . It served as a supplement to the Tages-Anzeiger .

It was published from December 5, 2007 to December 4, 2009 and, like other commuter newspapers, was offered in newspaper boxes at public transport hubs.

News was founded by Tamedia ( Tages-Anzeiger ) , its subsidiary Espace Media Groupe ( Berner Zeitung ) and the Basler Zeitung Medien . Issues were produced for the regions of Zurich , Bern , Basel and the Mittelland , with the latter representing a foray into the Mittelland-Zeitung sales market . The issue for the Mittelland was discontinued on December 8, 2008, mainly due to the situation on the advertising market and the orientation of the Mittelland to the three centers of Basel, Zurich and Bern. A large part of the Mittelland edition was therefore also included in the editions of the three cities.

On August 24, 2009, Espace Media and Basler Zeitung Medien announced that they had sold their shares to Tamedia. The Bern and Basel editions were then discontinued on August 28, 2009. No employees have been laid off. From this point on, news only appeared in the greater Zurich area. On December 4, 2009 the Zurich edition was also discontinued.

The edition was 100,000 copies.
