Next Generation Air Transportation System

Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) is in the aviation of the United States an initiative of the JPDO ( Joint Planning and Development Office ) for the modernization of air traffic management (Engl. Air Traffic Management ATM) through the use of satellite-based systems . Future processes should be consistent with safety aspects and ecological requirements. Both the concept and the requirements for an improved ATM system are very similar to the European aviation project SESAR .
