The Ngbandi is the language of the fishing people of the Ngbandi (also called Sanga or Sangha), which is spoken on the upper reaches of the Ubangi River.
It has over 1.5 million speakers in the Central African Republic and around one million speakers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She belongs to the Adamawa-Ubangi group of the Niger-Congo languages .
The official and lingua franca Sangho (or Sango ) of the Central African Republic emerged from the Ngbandi language .
