Note: The surname of this Vietnamese name is Nguyễn , in Western texts the spelling is often simplified Nguyen . According to Vietnamese custom, the person should be referred to by their first name Phúc - even in formal situations .

Nguyễn Xuân Phúc (Nguyen Xuan Phuc; born July 20, 1954 in the province of Quảng Nam) has been Prime Minister of Vietnam since April 7, 2016 .

Life

Nguyễn Xuân Phúc studied law and graduated with a bachelor's degree. He was President of Quảng Nam Province, Head of the Government Office and, since August 2011, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam. Nguyễn Xuân Phúc was nominated by his predecessor and appointed to his office by the National Assembly on April 7, 2016.
