Niall Ó Brolcháin
Niall Ó Brolcháin is an Irish politician and former Mayor of Galway .
Niall Ó Brolcháin was elected to Galway City Council in 2004, an office he still holds. From 2006 to 2007 he held the office of Mayor of Galway. This made Ó Brolcháin the first green mayor of the city and the second green mayor of Ireland after John Gormley .
In 2007 he ran for his party for a seat in the 30th Dáil Éireann , but failed again as in the 2002 election. In December 2009, Ó Brolcháin was elected to the Seanad Éireann in a by-election, filling the vacant seat of Alan Kelly, who was elected to the European Parliament in June . With his election to the Seanad Éireann Ó Brolcháin resigned from the Galway City Council.
Ó Brolcháin is married and has five children.
