Nevertheless

Nonetheless , a conjunctive adverb that, following a statement, introduces an opposing or restrictive statement. Synonyms are nevertheless , nevertheless , nevertheless , nevertheless, and nevertheless .

The word arose in the student language as a joke suitcase word by merging the two synonymous words "nonetheless" and "nonetheless" into one. In Latin class it was called nihilo in spite of everything . It spread in the 19th and in the 20th century to the written language into it.

Although 'nonetheless' was not originally a serious word formation , the word has now established itself in the standard language. Some dictionaries, such as some editions of the Duden publishing house , use the word as colloquial , such as Brockhaus-Wahrig 2011/2012. Duden. The large dictionary of the German language. 2013 rated the adverb as a "joking mixture". In others, such as B. Sprach-Brockhaus (1935) and Wahrig it is not called colloquial. The dtv edition of the Wahrig 1997 (in the new spelling) does not know the word.
