Nick de Jong (born September 26, 1989 in Hoofddorp ) is a Dutch football player . The striker has been part of the professional squad of the Dutch first division club FC Utrecht since summer 2008 .

Career

De Jong learned the football ABC at his hometown club SV Hoofddorp. In the summer of 2006, the AZ Alkmaar scouts lured him into the youth department. Two years later, the attacker decided to switch. At the beginning of the 2008/09 Eredivisie season, de Jong slipped into the professional squad of FC Utrecht . On October 5, 2008 he finally made his debut in the top Dutch league. In the 3-0 win over Twente Enschede , he also scored his first professional goal. After Randy Wolters and Rafael Uiterloo, he was one of the players in recent months who scored a goal at their league premiere. As the season went on, de Jong was mostly active for the club's reserve team.
