Niederandepen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The former place Niederandepen was between the still existing villages Hegensdorf and Keddinghausen , on the lower foothills of the Okental near the county road L 549. Today a boulder reminds of the lost place.

history

Niederandepen was first mentioned in a document at the beginning of the 11th century. In 1385 the noblemen von Büren planned a moat wall system, which was not built. The place fell desolate in the late Middle Ages and was then abandoned by its residents. It was the time of feuds and bitter petty wars between rival parties. The Eversteiner feud (1403–1407) and the Soester feud (1444–1449) should be mentioned here. Again and again, bands of robbers and mercenary armies marched through the country, plundering and murdering, to which many innocent farmers fell victim. These sought protection in the nearby cities, which were mostly secured by a castle and city wall, and often did not return to their home village. Places abandoned by the population are called desolation , they fell desolate .
