Niederrheiner are a domestic fowl breed that was bred from North Holland blue broilers by the two Lower Rhine breeders Friedrich Regenstein and J. Jobs at the end of the 1920s. The chickens of Dutch origin were mainly bred from Mechlin , Plymouth Rocks , Faverolles and Belgian fighters . In 1943 the domestic chicken breed was recognized in Germany. With the dwarf Lower Rhine there is also a recognized breed of bantam, which is looked after by the same special association.
