occupation

Para vestir santos is an Argentine telenovela that aired on El Trece between April 21 and December 22, 2010 . The focus is on three as yet unmarried sisters, who are also alluded to in the title of the series: The phrase “para vestir santos” means “women of a more mature age who have not yet had a husband”.

action

The series begins with the death of their mother Gloria San Juan (Betiana Blum, * 1939), about whom the three sisters are not entirely unhappy. The 36 episodes of the telenovela show how they reorganize their lives.

The eldest sister, Susi (Gabriela Toscano, * 1965), is still in her only relationship so far, but it was 15 years ago. She never got beyond her boyfriend at the time, Carlos (Luis Machín, * 1968). But he has been married for a long time and the birth of his first child is imminent. Then Susi meets Sergio, with whom a relationship and even marriage is developing, but Susi abruptly distances himself from Sergio when Carlos leaves his wife Jimena to be with Susi just before the birth of his child. Jimena finally gives birth and then commits suicide (episode 12) to clear the place for Susi. However, Carlos has since been run over by a car and is no longer the same due to severe head injuries. In between, Susi gets to know the vulgar and conservative David (Alfredo Casero, * 1962), but Sergio also comes back into her field of vision, whom she finally marries at the end of the series.

The middle sister Virgi (Griselda Siciliani, * 1978) is notoriously unemployed and has many fleeting encounters with men without this becoming a steady relationship. But then she falls in love with Julio (Rafael Ferro, * 1965), whom she hangs out to her half-sister María Eugenia, the "Conchuda". In between, she spends a night with Néstor (Héctor Díaz), who is in love with her, and becomes pregnant. After some back and forth, she ends up getting back together with Julio.

The youngest sister, Male (Celeste Cid, * 1984) is a budding actress, but does not get beyond extra jobs. Male, like “Conchuda”, is only a half-sister of Susi and Virgi, with whom she shares the same mother, Gloria, who died at the beginning of the series (“Conchuda”, on the other hand, is not related to Male and shares the same father with Susi and Virgi). Male only learns in the course of the series that she has a different father than expected, which increases her not only sexual disorientation. She finally admits that she is a lesbian and begins a relationship with Laura (Martina Gusmán, * 1978), which soon ends. After a few more relationships, she ends up dating Emilia (Pilar Gamboa, * 1980).

The sisters' uncle, Horacio (Hugo Arana, * 1943), who moves in with them for a short time, also has problems with his homosexuality, which he never lived out. Through him, the sisters learn more about their dead mother, and he also helps times visit their father, with whom he was once friends. Horacio dies of leukemia during the telenovela.

At the end of the 36 episodes, all three San Juan sisters found a partner after several technical twists and turns and did not “stay to clothe the saints” (“para vestir santos”).

Musical interludes

The plot was interrupted from time to time by musical interludes, e.g. B. with a version of the classic " Quizás, quizás, quizás ". After the final episode on December 22, 2010, a special broadcast on December 29, 2010 was devoted to the various musical interludes.
