" Quizás, quizás, quizás " (English "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" , to German "Maybe, maybe, maybe" ) is a Bolero - Chachacha in Spanish written in 1947 by the Cuban Osvaldo Farrés . An English text was written by Joe Davis .

Interpretations

The Gordon Jenkins version sung by Tony Bavaar was recorded on August 12, 1949 and released by Decca Records under catalog number 24720.

Nat King Cole sang the song regularly with a heavy American accent; its version appeared in 1958 on the album Cole Español .

The version by Doris Day was recorded on November 5, 1964 for Columbia Records , but not released as a single. The song is part of their album Latin for Lovers .

Other artists have also recorded this song, including Pérez Prado , Rigo Tovar , Sonora Matancera , Xavier Cugat , Mantovani , The Stargazers , Pepe Jaramillo , Mayte Mateos (singer from Baccara ), Cake (on the album Fashion Nugget ), The Pussycat Dolls (Album: Doll Domination) and Geri Halliwell (on the America's Sweethearts soundtrack ) as well as her Spice Girls colleague Emma Bunton .

The Turkish ska band Athena covered the song under the name "Senden, benden, bizden", the Jamaican ska musician Prince Buster recorded the song in the 1960s as "Rude, rude, rude".

The best-known instrumental versions of the title come from the Mantovani orchestra , arranged as cha-cha-cha in 1963 and interpreted as blues-like , slow rumba in 1965 by jazz clarinetist Mr. Acker Bilk .

Use in film and television

A scene from the Australian film Strictly Ballroom (1992) used Doris Day's version.

Sara Montiel's version was used as full backing track by Gael García Bernal in the film La Mala Educación .

The Spanish version was also used in the films In the Mood for Love , 2046 and Brokeback Mountain . The song was interpreted in In the Mood for Love and in 2046 by Nat King Cole .

The song can also be found in the film Running with Scissors .

An English version sung by Mari Wilson is the theme music for the British sitcom Coupling . In the Kommissar Stolberg episode "Heaven and Hell", the version of Cake comes right at the beginning of the film.
