Niemierzyn (Stettin)

Niemierzyn (until 1945 German Nemitz) is a district in the west of the city of Szczecin (Stettin).

history

The place has been since 10/11. Settled by Slavs in the 19th century, as evidenced by silver finds. German settlers have been recruited since the 13th century. In 1351 the village was sold to the city of Szczecin by the Bishop of Cammin "along with 3 additional mills". In 1900 it was incorporated into Stettin. The Kückenmühler Anstalten were located in Nemitz from 1863 and were dissolved in 1940.

The tram depot at ul. Niemierzyńska, built in 1907, is now the Museum of Technology and Transport.
