The Nieuport-Delage Ni-D 30TI double-decker transporter began service on the Paris - London route in the spring of 1920 for the Compagnie Generale Transaerienne, which is maintained by Nieuport .
Development and use
The pilot sat in an open cockpit behind the Sunbeam Matabele engine with 350 HP (257 kW), behind him the cabin for four passengers. A total of seven Ni-D 30T1s were built, which flew to London and back twice a day , until on April 27, 1920 a machine (F-CGTY) went missing in the thick fog over the English Channel. The other machines were then equipped with a primitive, acoustically working control system that had been developed by A. W. Loth. A Ni-D 30T2, a derivative of the Ni-D 30T1 in a one -and-a-half-decker configuration with a Darracq -12A engine with 420 hp (309 kW) made its first flight on March 23, 1921. During the tests, however, serious problems and the Development was canceled. The maximum speed of the Ni-D 30Tl was 172 km / h; the Ni-D 30T2 with up to seven passengers was only slightly slower.
