The Nihon Toshokan Kyōkai ( Japanese 日本 図 書館 協会 , English Japan Library Association , JLA for short) is the Japanese library association.

history

The JLA was founded in 1892. After the American Library Association and the predecessor of the British Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals , the International Conference of Librarians, it is the third oldest library association in the world.

activity

The JLA issues specialist publications and organizes conferences. In addition, she represents library interests in relation to state institutions.

The JLA is a member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).
