Nikanor from Kos
Nikanor from Kos was an ancient Greek grammarian known for his commentary on the poems of the Philetas . Nikanor's works came from the Hellenistic period. It was mistakenly assumed that he was also a commentator on Theocritus' works . The parts assigned to Nikanor in the Theocritus Scholia concern the island of Kos and are probably taken from his Philetas commentary, but also go beyond that.
