Nike Air Max
Nike Air Max are a range of sports shoes made by Nike .
Emergence
Aerospace engineer Marion Franklin Rudy laid the foundation for Nike Air technology. After a career change in the 1960s, Rudy began developing creative solutions for other industries. Rudy kept the idea of using air cushions in shoes. After presenting his idea to 23 shoe manufacturers without success, he finally found an open ear from Nike co-founder Phil Knight . After a test run, Knight was quickly convinced and decided to take up the idea. The Nike Air series was finally born.
The Air Max 1 was first released on March 26, 1987. The shoe was first designed by Tinker Hatfield , who was active in the field of design in 1985 and also designed the Nike Jordans with similar features at the same time. The shoe designer got the inspiration to make the inside of the sole visible from the Paris art museum Georges Pompidou with the numerous windows that make the inside of the building visible. While looking at the building, Hatfield came up with the idea of expanding sneaker technology. For the first time the inside of the sole is visible.
In the 1990s there were still some serious changes to be made to the Nike Air Max. After many other Air Max models, the designer Christian Tresser presented the Air Max 97 in 1997. The shoe was the first model in which the air cushion extended over the entire length of the foot. According to the manufacturer, the style-defining design of the shoe is reminiscent of a high-speed train.
As the successor to the Air Stab, which was provided with an Air Pad for the first time, the first Air Max quickly achieved cult status , especially in the hip-hop scene. In the gabber scene, shoes gained an even greater status. This popularity has not changed to this day. Air Max have not only been used in sports for a long time, but have also developed into a fashionable trend shoe in the upper price segment. The different uses made themselves particularly noticeable through the different developments. An Air Max specifically designed for running and one designed to be easily worn in public came on the market. In November 2014, Nike presented the Air Max 2015 with dynamic mesh and full-fledged Max suspension.
