Nikolaos Chountis
Nikolaos Chountis ( Greek Νικόλαος Χουντής , born September 17, 1953 in Langadia ) is a Greek politician. At first he belonged to the Synaspismos party , which later became part of SYRIZA .
Chountis completed two courses, one in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Athens and then in political science and international studies at the Pantion University of Athens . He later worked as an engineer. From 2005 to 2009 he was secretary in the party executive committee of Synaspismos. In mid-2004 he was a member of the European Parliament for three months , from 2009 to 2014 as a member of the SYRIZA . He is a member of the Central Committee of SYRIZA and since January 27, 2015 Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for European affairs in the Tsipras cabinet . On July 13, 2015, he resigned as deputy foreign minister and also gave up his seat in parliament. Since July 20, 2015, Chountis has been a member of the European Parliament again.
