Nilüfer Akbal

Nilüfer Akbal (* 1969 in Varto , Turkey ) is an Alevi singer from Turkey.

Life

In 1987 she came to Istanbul and began her music education at the Arif Sağ Music School . She took baglama and singing lessons. In 1988 she released her first album Arzuhal Eyledim . However, Nilüfer Akbal was not satisfied with her album and continued her education.

In 1991 and 1992, respectively, Hasret Gültekin recorded the albums Newroz 1 (thanks to a sound trick by Hasret Gültekin the first legally published Kurdish album in Turkey) and Newroz 2. These albums are works by Hasret Gültekin, and he asked Nilüfer Akbal to sing only three songs with Riza Akkoç in the album Newroz 2. At that time she went to Cologne and worked with Paulo Grenau and the Rheinische Musikschule . In 1995 she released her first Zaza and Kurdish-language album Mîro . The album also contained songs in Zazaisch . The album made her known among the Zazas and Kurds. Her next albums were also mixed language. So she sang in Şewa in Sorani and Syriac . Nilüfer Akbal gave concerts abroad and wrote music for films and reports.

Since January 2009 she has hosted several programs on the Turkish state broadcaster TRT 6 , which is Kurdish .
