Nilgiri tea

Nilgiri is a tea that is available both as green tea , but mostly as black tea . It is grown in the Nilgiri Mountains in Tamil Nadu in southwest India at altitudes between 800 and 2000 meters and is often used for tea blends. The aroma is similar to that of Ceylon tea . The Soviet Union used to be a major buyer , otherwise the variety does not play a major role on the world market.

Nilgiri is easily digestible due to its low tannin content. In addition, it does not become bitter as quickly as other types of tea.
