James Wallington
James ("Jim") Robert Wallington, Jr. (born July 28, 1944 in Philadelphia , † April 19, 1988 in Lawrence , Indiana ) was an American boxer .
Wallington was American light welterweight champion (-63.5 kg) in 1966 and 1967 and military world champion in 1967. Also in 1967 he won the Pan American Games in Winnipeg . At the 1968 Olympic Games , Wallington reached the semi-finals after winning over Donato Cartagena, Dominican Republic (TKO 1st), Alex Odhiambo, Uganda (5: 0), and Sa-Young Kim, South Korea , which he played against Enrique Regüeiferos , Cuba ( 4: 1), lost and won the Olympic bronze medal.
Wallington then ended his career. He died at the age of 43.
