Nils P. Heeßel (born around 1970) is a German ancient orientalist .

Life

From 1989 to 1994 he studied Middle Eastern archeology, Assyriology and Egyptology in Berlin and Heidelberg , where he obtained his Magister Artium in 1994, obtained his doctorate in 1999 and in 2009 with the habilitation thesis Die Opferschau in Assur. His main research areas are Akkadian archeology, ancient oriental divination, medicine and the history of religion, demons and ancient oriental sculpture.
