Requirements can e.g. B. be that

  • the scientist has the qualification required for a habilitation at the relevant faculty
  • the scientist in his previous venia legendi and facultas docendi waived
  • there is a need to expand the range of courses in the subject for which the rehabilitation is sought.

Procedure

If a scientist who has qualified as a professor tries to obtain a teaching license on the basis of a re-habilitation , he / she submits an application to the dean of the faculty or department.

As a rule, the following must be attached to the application:

If the dean considers the requirements for a rehabilitation to be fulfilled, he suggests the formation of a committee to the faculty board. This checks whether the candidate has the qualifications required to grant the license to teach and whether there is a need to expand the range of courses in the relevant subject. The review of the qualification can be based on the reports obtained at the other university for the habilitation. If necessary, a new external expert opinion is obtained.

The exact course of a rehabilitation procedure can differ from faculty to faculty and from university to university, and there can also be different requirements. More details are regulated in the corresponding habilitation regulations of the faculty or university.
