Ningbo Bird

Ningbo Bird Co. Ltd. (Chinese: 宁波 波导 股份有限公司; Pinyin : Níngbō bōdǎo gǔfèn yǒuxiàn gōngsī) was briefly the largest manufacturer of radio alarm receivers in the People's Republic of China in 1997 . The company is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange .

The Chinese company based in Fenghua , founded in 1992 with 16 million euros, initially produced radio message receivers, so-called pagers, and in 1997 was the largest manufacturer of these devices in China.

  • In 1999 production was switched to cell phones.
  • In 2000 the company went public in Shanghai .
  • In 2001 the company sold around 2.5 million cell phones.
  • As of August 2002, Ningbo-Bird enters into a joint venture with the French mobile phone manufacturer Sagem and Ningbo Bird Sagem Electronic Ltd. founded.
  • In 2003 Bird International was founded as an import and export company and in the same year Bird sold over 11 million cell phones.
  • In 2004, the German mobile phone manufacturer Siemens - one year before the sale of this division to BenQ - agreed a collaboration with Ningbo Bird to sell Siemens mobile phones in 30,000 branches in China. The managing director was Xu Lihua, who was only 40 at the time.
  • In 2006, the French arms company Safran (merger of Sagem and Snecma) merged its Sagem Communication division with Ningo-Bird. Sagem wanted to take over the worldwide sales of Ningbo-Bird.
