Nipaipo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nepai or Nipaipo ( Jap. 二十八歩 ) is called "28 strikes" and refers to a Karate - Kata from the Fujian White Crane ( Chinese  白鶴拳 , Pinyin Fujian White Crane , Jap. Hakutsuru-ken , dt. White-Crane style ).

History of the kata

The form of movement was originally developed by Fang Qiu Jang. She herself practiced the Ryu-Ryukos style (chin. Minhequan ). According to Kanzaki Shigekazu and Patrick McCarthy , this kata should be a direct form. That means: this kata has kept its original form and has hardly been changed.

Course of the kata

The kata has 64 movements. It places high demands on the practitioner such as balance control and coordination. One of the strengths of the kata is that the Atemi points are practiced very strongly, for example through the Nukite technique and Ippon-Ken. It is one of the hardest katas in karate. It takes many years to master them and understand their bunkai .
