Werner Lind (born October 30, 1950 in Variaş , Timiş district ; † December 21, 2014 in Bensheim ) was a Romanian-German karate teacher ( 8th Dan Kyoshi ) and author of Budo books.

Life

Lind was born in Variaș, Romania , and moved to Timișoara as a teenager , where he began judo training and taught from 1968. There he also began karate training with Ilija Jorga . In 1979 he moved to Germany because he saw himself hindered in his efforts to teach karate independently of the state. In Germany, he first worked as an honorary teacher for various karate associations. In 1980 he founded his Dōjō Budokan in Bensheim, in which, in addition to Kenpo Karate , Kobudō , Taijiquan , Qigong , Bujutsu , Ninjutsu and Kyūdō are taught. In 1984 he stopped working as an honorary teacher. In 1990 he founded the Budo Study Circle (BSK).

The internet project initiated by Werner Lind is Budopedia . It is the scientific website of the Budo Study Circle, whose aim is to "open up a comprehensive source of knowledge about the meaning of the martial arts." Budopedia is based u. a. on Werner Lind's Lexicon of Martial Arts.
