Bicycle from Nishiki

Nishiki was the bicycle brand of the Japanese manufacturer KK Kawamura Cycle ( 株式会社 カ ワ ム ラ サ イ ク ル , Kabushiki kaisha Kawamura Saikuru ) in Kobe , Japan .

Nishiki was the trademark of the bicycle manufacturer KK Kawamura Cycle in Kobe. After the Kobe earthquake in 1995 , the company ran into financial difficulties and the bicycle business was spun off on October 18, 1995 as KK Kawamura ( 株式会社 カ ワ ム ラ ) based in neighboring Miki . Nishiki's racing bikes of the "Olympic" series were known and widespread internationally in the 1970s and the "Prestige" series from the 1980s . The brand belonged to the ranks of well-known Japanese bicycle manufacturers such as Miyata , Fuji , Bridgestone , Panasonic , Univega , Lotus and Centurion .

Kawamura Cycle was also re-established on August 31, 1995, but as a wheelchair manufacturer .

The brand was marketed in the USA from 1965 by the West Coast Cycle company . The brand name Nishiki became a trademark of Derby , like Raleigh and Univega . Nishiki and Univega were phased out in 2001 and Derby focused on the Raleigh brand name. Today a number of trekking cross and racing bikes are sold by European dealers under Nishiki Europe , but these have nothing to do with the original manufacturer.
