Nissyen
Nissyen [ nisjen ] also Nisien , Nissien ( Cymric : "The Peaceful"), is the "light" brother of the "dark" Efnisien in Welsh mythology . His father is Euroswydd, his mother Penarddun , his half-siblings are Bran the Blessed , Branwen and Manawydan .
mythology
In the second branch of Mabinogi , in the story Branwen ferch Llŷr ("Branwen, the daughter of Llŷr"), Nissyen is described as extremely peace-loving. He is always trying to diplomatically put his hot-headed brother's freak in order.
- And one of those two young people was a fine young man. He used to make peace between two parties when the anger was greatest. That was Nisien.
When he arrives in Ireland , where the Welsh are traveling to help Branwen, he wants to bring about peace. He warmly greets Gwern , the son of Branwen and Matholwch , as his nephew, in contrast to Efnisien, who then even murders the boy. Nissyen is among the seven survivors who return to Wales with Bran's head.
