Noadja
Noadja is the name of two people in the Old Testament , a prophetess and a Levite .
etymology
The name Noadja ( Hebrew נוֹעַדְיָה) is both a male and a female given name. It can be derived from the Hebrew verb יעד j'd , which means "come together / meet / let one meet". The name appears in the Bible only in Ezr 8,33 EU and Neh 6,14 EU . In the latter position, the name is an allusion, since the verb to which the name goes back was previously used in Neh 6,2 EU and 10 EU .
Noadja, the prophetess
Along with Mirjam , Debora and Hulda , Noadja is one of four prophets named in the Old Testament. Neh 6:14 reports of “Noadiah and the other prophets,” which suggests that she held a leading role in this group. Noadja belongs to the group of opponents of the building of the wall in Jerusalem and thus comes into opposition to Nehemiah .
Noadja the Levite
Noadja, the son of Binnui, is a Levite mentioned in Ezr 8:33. He moved to Jerusalem with Ezra from exile. Once there, he is present as the temple treasure is handed over to the priest Meremot.
