Noble Energy is a US mineral oil company based in Houston , Texas . In the United States, the company produces oil and gas from the Eagle Ford Group (Texas), the Permian Basin (Texas) and the Denver Basin (Colorado). Natural gas is also being produced off the coast of West Africa and in the Leviathan gas field in the eastern Mediterranean. At the end of 2019, Noble Energy had reserves of 2.05 billion boe .

history

In 1932 founded Lloyd Noble in Ardmore (Oklahoma) with the Samedan Oil Corporation, the direct predecessor company of today's Noble Energy Inc. The company was active in the first Lagerstätten- exploration for oil and natural gas. In 1968 Samedan received mining rights in the Gulf of Mexico . The following year, Noble Affiliates was founded, which acted as the holding company for the exploration company Samedan, the drilling company Noble Drilling Corporation and others. Noble Affiliates went public in 1972. Noble Drilling Corporation was spun off from Noble Affiliates in 1985 and is now active as a drilling service provider under the name Noble Corporation . In 2002 Noble Affiliates renamed Noble Energy.

On July 20, 2020, Chevron announced that it would take over Noble Energy for $ 5 billion.
