MixRadio (formerly Nokia Music Store , OVI Music Store ) was an online music service for music in MP3 format from LINE . Access was via a web browser or an app for Windows Phone 8 , Apple iOS and Android .

Mixradio was discontinued on March 21, 2016.

history

In 2014, MixRadio was sold to Microsoft Mobile after the acquisition of Nokia's equipment division , which allowed MixRadio to compete with Microsoft's Xbox Music . In July 2014, Microsoft announced that it would outsource MixRadio. In March 2015 MixRadio was sold to the Japanese company LINE . Even porting the app to Android and iOS by LINE could not save the streaming service from failure, whereupon LINE announced in mid-February 2016 that it would discontinue Mix Radio in the following weeks. The app was removed from the app stores at the end of February 2016 .

General

The music offered in the former shop was free of DRM and could be copied as desired. A Nokia account was required to download . The shop was closed as part of the renaming of Nokia Music to Nokia MixRadio. The service was available in 38 countries and offered over 30 million songs as of July 2014. The streaming of self-created playlists was free of charge and free of advertising. The music flat rate introduced in 2008 was discontinued in 2011, but was later available again under the name MixRadio + .
