Nonterraqueous

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nonterraqueous is a computer game for the Amstrad CPC , ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 , which was published in 1985 by Mastertronic .

Game action

The player controls a robot (resembling an eyeball) whose mission is to destroy the central computer that subjugated the planet Nonterragueous. The robot has a "psyche" value, which is reduced with every contact with the surface, and therefore requires appropriate handling of the robot movements. In the way are enemies that can be made harmless with the robot laser, "photon nozzles" (white barriers that pulsate and destroy the robot immediately upon contact) and other obstacles, some of them can only be destroyed with a bomb, which is found beforehand must and can then be thrown in the room. There are always stations along the way where the robot can "recharge" its psyche value, but some of these stations have fatal consequences and you have to find out for yourself which ones are useful for you. There are also so-called "Swop" stations, which allow the robot to transform itself into an alternative form, which can no longer defend itself with laser shots, but is invulnerable against certain dangerous obstacles. On your journey you will also come across a long vertical shaft that seems impassable until you activate a rocket at the bottom of the shaft that catapults the player up dozens of levels and through the barrier.

The overall size of the game was scary for the time, it consisted of 1004 different rooms.

Sequel

There is a sequel to the game called Soul of a Robot ; however, the gameplay is quite different.
