North-South divide (Germany)
In Germany, the north-south divide is the divide between northern and southern regions at the time of industrialization in the 19th and 20th centuries. It relates to economic and demographic differences between the emerging industrial and port regions in the north and northwest and the then more agricultural regions in southern Germany.
Today this phenomenon has been reversed and we speak of the south-north divide .
