Nordic history

The Nordic history is a study in Germany exclusively at the University of Greifswald and at the University of Kiel offered. However, both universities only offer Nordic history as a specialization in the history course. There is no longer an independent study course in Nordic history.

At the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin , Nordic history is part of the Scandinavian Studies / Northern European Studies course and is taught permanently by an academic council, not a chair.

Nordic history stands between the two subjects history and Scandinavian studies . Nordic history is not limited to the purely Scandinavian area. It can also include North German , Baltic or North Atlantic history. However, the focus is on the five Nordic countries .

Nordic history is divided into older, medium and modern Nordic history.
