Norrlands universitetssjukhus (NUS) , German University Clinic Norrland , is a hospital in Umeå with three functions. The clinic is the local hospital ( länsdelssjukhus ) for the Umeå area, the provincial hospital ( länssjukhus ) for the province of Västerbottens län and the regional hospital ( regionsjukhus ) for the four northernmost provinces of Jämtland , Västernorrland , Västerbotten and Norrbotten .

As a regional hospital, the NUS serves nearly a million people spread across half of Sweden. In addition, together with Umeå University , it contributes to the training of doctors , nurses and nurses, among others . The hospital has about 5,600 employees.
