The North Beach is a beach in the South African city of Durban . It is north of the harbor between Bay of Plenty and Dairy Beach on the Golden Mile.

North Beach is one of the main beaches in Durban. It is maintained by the Durban Surf Lifesaving Club, whose clubhouse is on OR Tambo Parade (old name: Marine Parade), which runs along the beach. The beach is bordered by two piers.

Main attraction

Due to the good surfing conditions, Durban and North Beach in particular are popular holiday destinations among South Africans. Surfing , bodyboarding , surf-skiing , skateboarding and swimming are practiced at North Beach , but sunbathing is also possible. During the Christmas holidays, the beach is mostly crowded with locals and tourists.

In the immediate vicinity of North Beach there are several hotels and restaurants as well as the Suncoast Casino . The beach is protected by shark nets and is monitored by lifeguards .
