North Port was a whiskey distillery in the town of Brechin , Angus , Scotland .
history
The North Port distillery was founded in Brechin in 1820 by the farmer David Guthrie. In 1823 Guthrie's sons David John and Alexander took over the management of the distillery. In 1922 the distillery was owned by Distiller Company Ltd. (DCL), which they managed until it closed in 1983. The distillery was temporarily shut down in 1928, but reopened in 1937. The site was sold in 1990 and the buildings demolished. A supermarket was then built on the site. The Distillery Road , which leads past the site, is still reminiscent of the former distillery.
production
The water required came from Loch Lee. The distillery used a coarse still ( wash still ) and a fine still ( spirit still ).
Bottlings
North Port also produced single malt bottlings, some of which are still available today as part of the Rare Malt Series . Furthermore, several fillings from independent fillers are available.
