Northerns , North Eastern Transvaal until 1971 and Northern Transvaal until 1995 , is a South African cricket team based in Centurion , which took part in professional national competitions until October 2004. From then on they were merged with Easterns, part of the Titans , and continued to play under the name Northerns in the second-rate South African competitions.

history

The Northerns have long played in the lower regions of the highest level of South African cricket. 1984/85 succeeded the team for the first time in the Currie Cup to achieve second place, which they could repeat in 1994/95 . In the 1996/97 and 1998/99 seasons , the Northerns were able to achieve success for the first time when they each won the Standard Bank League. In the 2001/02 season succeeded again a second place in the Currie Cup. In the 2003/04 season, the provincial teams were merged and Northers formed the Titans together with Easterns. In the following years the team succeeded in winning multiple wins in the First Class, List A and Twenty20 competitions of the now semi-professional provincial teams.
