The Nossen-Riesaer Eisenbahn-Compagnie GmbH is a railway infrastructure company from Nossen in Central Saxony . It operates the Riesa – Nossen and Döbeln Hbf – Meißen-Triebischtal railway lines (part of the Borsdorf – Coswig line).

history

Lommatzsch station, 2013; owned by the NRE since September 2014

In August 2008, the Nossen-Riesaer Eisenbahn-Compagnie GmbH was founded with the aim of protecting the largely disused railway line from Riesa to Nossen from being demolished and reactivating it. After passenger traffic was stopped on the entire route in 1998, the DB also stopped the sparse freight traffic from the Neubodenbach tank farm (Awanst. Rhäsa) in the direction of Riesa after a storm damage in 2002. As a result, the entire line except for the Nossen-Awanst Rhäsa section was closed on December 31, 2007. As a result, DB Netz AG submitted an application to the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) for “exemption from railway traffic purposes” for the section concerned. After the EBA had decided against an exemption in January 2009, the NRE applied to DB Netz AG to take over the disused route section. After lengthy negotiations, a lease was finally concluded on January 16, 2014. After reactivating the first section of the Awanst. On July 1, 2014, the first train from the local grain store in the direction of Nossen and on to the port of Vierow on the Baltic Sea ran from Rhäsa to the former Starbach station. Since June 1, 2015, the NRE has also been operating the section from the Neubodenbach tank farm (Awanst. Rhäsa) to Nossen and thus the entire route.

After passenger traffic on the immediately adjacent Döbeln Hbf – Nossen – Meißen-Triebischtal railway line was discontinued on December 12, 2015, DB Netz AG also put this route out to tender for third parties. After the conclusion of a long-term lease and the issuing of the operating license, this route has also been operated by the NRE since April 16, 2016.

In 2012, the NRE acquired the listed entrance building of the Nossen train station, in 2014 and 2015 also the buildings in Lommatzsch and Starbach .
