Nowi Chan
Coordinates: 42 ° 35 ′ 48.9 ″ N , 23 ° 35 ′ 31.1 ″ O Nowi Chan is a repository for radioactive waste in Bulgaria .
In the Nowi Chan repository, low-level radioactive waste from industry, medicine and research has been stored at a depth of about 6 m since 1964. It is located around 35 km southeast of Sofia .
The waste is likely to be stored untreated. The repository is made up of several sub-areas in which solid waste, biological material and used gamma sources are stored separately.
