The Nubian arm dagger is a traditional dagger from Nubia or Sudan , which is carried on the upper arm near the shoulder.
description
The Nubian arm daggers usually have a straight, double-edged blade with a central ridge that tapers from the handle to a point. The blade length is approximately between 12 and 20 cm. The handle is usually made of wood or horn, widens to a wide guard and often has a disk-like pommel. The scabbards are usually made of leather, which is decorated with embossing or metal fittings. A thin leather strap is attached to the scabbard, which is used to hold the weapon on the upper arm.
The Tuareg living in the Western Sahara have a similar dagger, the Telek . This has a cross-shaped knob and a wide fastening strap, which is often made of brass.
