Nuces castellatae

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nuces castellatae (Latin: nuts turrets ) was a Roman game that was played especially by children and young people. In the game of skill , little turrets were built from four nuts in such a way that three were on the ground and touching each other and a fourth rested on top of the three. The player now had to try from a distance to bring them to collapse by throwing nuts at them.

The variant of the game with marbles persisted into the 21st century, as the well-known marble game variant Schlösschen confirms.
