Lemniscus lateralis
The lemniscus lateralis ( Eng . " Lateral loop (nbahn) ") is a nerve path in the brain stem and part of the auditory pathway . It receives information from the superior olive ( nucleus olivaris superior ) and the nucleus cochlearis on the opposite side ( contralateral ).
From the core of the loop, information is passed on on both sides ( ipsi- and contralateral ) to the two lower mounds ( colliculi inferiores ) of the four-mound plate ( lamina quadrigemina ).
