Nuffield Guppy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nuffield Guppy was a small military vehicle designed by Sir Alec Issigonis while he was working for the Nuffield Organization in the early 1940s . The vehicle should be able to be dropped by parachute and support the paratroopers in moving loads of up to 227 kg at walking pace. It should also be buoyant . The vehicle looked similar to the DUKW but was only about 2.4 m long. It had large balloon tires and an outboard motor on the stern. It could carry a person with equipment or it could be used as a motorized wheelbarrow with the operator walking alongside.
