Nullmeier or Nullmeyer is a German family name .

The name comes from Northern Germany - especially Westphalia , where it is still widely used today. The alternative spelling “Nullmeyer” is particularly popular in and around Bremen.

It is a compound surname made up of “zero” and “meier”. "Zero" is the Low German name for hill or rounded hill , while "meier" (in the area where it was created - (see main article Meier )) was the general name for (small) farmers. The meaning of the name - which is a residence name - is "The farmer living on / on the hill".
