Only for strong nerves (later: The Midnight Story ) was a radio broadcast by the broadcaster Free Berlin (SFB), in which Friedrich Schoenfeld read aloud horror and crime stories for good night. It was broadcast from 1973 to 1990.

In 1972, the actor Friedrich Schoenfelder suggested to the entertainment department of the SFB to start a series in which he should read selected horror stories aloud. The first broadcast was on June 1, 1973. Friedrich Schoenfelder read the story The Masterpiece by Robert Bloch . Other notable authors who have stories featured include Ray Bradbury , John Collier, and Donald A. Wollheim .

By the end of 1986, over 500 episodes of the series were running, which was renamed The Midnight Story in 1987 . In April 1990 the series was discontinued.
